Spraying: spray the intended area with weed killer and wait about a week to 10 days. If there are no weeds, you can skip the spraying step.
Levelling: clean and level the area, removing a 5–10 cm layer of soil.
Weed barrier: over the whole area lay a woven (Plarig) or geotextile fabric to reduce future weeds, fixing it with galvanized stakes.
Edging: wherever the turf rolls border planting or mulched areas, edge the grass with a border (dedicated plastic, railway sleepers, stone, etc.) — the edging separates the base layer from the garden soil.
Base layer: spread a 5–10 cm base layer over the fabric, level and compact it with a plate compactor. Create a slope for drainage and a uniform, stable layer that lasts.
Laying: place the turf rolls so all the fibres face the same direction, so the seams aren't visible and there are no colour differences.
Bonding: lift both sides of the turf, lay a dedicated seaming tape to join the rolls, and use carpet adhesive.
Fixing: secure the rolls with 20 cm galvanized nails into the compacted base, at intervals of about 35 cm around the lawn and at the seams.
Silica sand: spread silica sand evenly (sand with a high silica content, sieved and dust-free). It stabilizes the fibres so they stand up, reduces heat build-up and gives a soft, absorbent feel.
Brushing: brush with a stiff mechanical brush (road broom) against the direction of the fibres until all the silica sand penetrates to the base of the turf. On a concrete surface: start from the base-layer step, and instead of stakes/nails use carpet adhesive around the edges and at the seams.
