Spring Is Here — Tips for Garden Care in the Spring Months
Spring is finally here after a long, rainy winter, and the garden is waking up along with the lengthening, warming days. We've gathered a few tips for caring for your garden this season:
Pruning
Prune dry branches as well as leaves and stems that were damaged over the winter.
Planting
Winter blooms are fading — now is the time to plant seasonal flowers. Place seasonal flowers in spots exposed to the sun. It's also the time to complete new plantings of trees and shrubs.
Irrigation
Now is the time to check that your irrigation system is working — alignment and sprinklers. Test it by running it manually for a few minutes.
Mowing
Give the lawn a first mow to bring it out of its winter dormancy.
Fertilizing
It's highly recommended to fertilize the lawn, shrubs, trees and fruit trees that begin to bud this season. Prefer organic or slow-release fertilizers.
